The Reykjanes Peninsula is the corner of Iceland where most visitors land, and much of it is a UNESCO Global Geopark. It sits on the Mid Atlantic Ridge, where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart, so a short drive takes you across moss covered lava fields, steaming geothermal areas, black sand coves and sea cliffs.
Keflavík, where the hotel stands, is on its northern shore. The Blue Lagoon, the Bridge Between Continents, Gunnuhver and the Reykjanes lighthouse are all within about half an hour by car. The peninsula has had several volcanic eruptions since 2021, so check safetravel.is for current conditions before you head out.
